@The original story piece by Ango Sakaguchi sets the story in a Japanese mountain village of the middle ages, where cold-hearted Princess Long-night, who conceals her cruelty behind her angelic smile, and Mimio(or the man of big ears), a sculptor of Buddhist images, unfold a strange yet wondrous tale with implications that touch upon the characteristics of the Japanese people, the intrinsic qualities of sufferings that artists/creators inevitably experience, and the relationship between human and nature.
In an attempt for us who live in the modern environment to draw near to the essence of this old tale, we have sought permission of Sakaguchi's family to revive the story as a contemporary theatrical piece incorporating Senga's unique style of expression.
After premiering in Tokyo in July, we will perform the piece in a variety of places from Shinto shrines of mountain villages, open air stages, to 'sake' cellars, and also at Warszawa University in October.

"Should we truly come to love something, we have no choice but to course it, kill it, or to fail foul of it...."---Princess Long-night
